Located directly off the A96 at the Western entrance to Huntly, the 1.9 acres of land will include a range of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom villas. The scheme is being promoted as ‘100% affordable’ whilst agreements are finalised to deliver the properties on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council under the criteria of Housing for Varying Needs. More specifically, the four bedroom properties have been developed with adaptions to meet the needs of wheelchair users.
The homes will benefit from solar panels, gas central heating, smart meters and increased thermal insulation standards, with the principle goal of saving tenants as much money as possible on their energy bills, whilst creating a sustainable community in the town.
The development has been designed around a central open space with good connectivity to core footpaths all within easy walking distance of the town centre and local amenitites. Aberdeenshire Council has commended the overall design and finishing proposals as being of a high standard which will enhance the gateway approach to Huntly through an active frontage, whilst completing the surrounding streetscapes.
