A charity trust set up by Aberdeen’s most famous sporting son has received a five-figure cash boost.

The Barrack Charitable Trust has donated £10,000 to Streetsport, one of the Denis Law Legacy Trust’s programmes.

The Streetsport project was set up in 2006 and is one of a number of ‘free to access’ sport and wellbeing programmes run across Aberdeen.

They have proven to be highly successful, with more than 16,000 young people taking part every year.

Founder of the Barrack Charitable Trust, James Barrack, said: “The Streetsport programme has had a great impact on the city of Aberdeen and its children. “Since 2006, it has made visible improvement in getting kids involved in sport and helping them become responsible citizens within their local communities. “By continuing to donate and support this programme, we hope this helps to ensure that the charity can continue with the excellent work it has been doing for the city.”

Mark Williams of the Denis Law Legacy Trust added: “Thanks to the Barrack Charitable Trust we can look forward to working with over 1,000 children a year from areas of Aberdeen that need this support the most.”
